Abstract:

Depicts addresses of every structure in Howard County Maryland. The point feature is placed on the actual structure and is attributed with address information.

Purpose:

Created for mapping and analysis. This file may be used for geocoding non spatial address lists. Is also used for county intranet and internet applications allowing users to accurately locate an entered address.

Supplemental_Information:

Originially based on Address information from the Howard County Cadastral layer. This file is the master address file for the county and is spatially linked to the property file.

Process_Description:

The address point layer was first created by generating centroids from the county property layer. These centroids included all of the property information, including addresses. The centroids were then saved to a points layer. The points were then moved from the geographic center of the property to the center of the structure on within the parcel. A unique ID was generated for each feature. The file has been quality controlled by end users. Files have been geocoded to the point layer, and errors have been fixed.

The file is currently updated following updates to the main property layer.
